Character Background and Description Ying Haeyun was born into a remote village that fell under the possession of a demon spirit. Her parents, recognizing the early signs of a demonic possession, rushed to escape the village. However, they were hunted down and dragged away to sacrifice but not before stashing a young Haeyun into a cave, too small for any adult to follow. She stayed there hidden for three days before climbing out and running away. She was picked up by a travelling merchant family who adopted her and cared for her until she was ready to leave on her own. From there she sought out demon hunters who trek the various lands of Shinkami Dao, searching for the next place the demons have run to. After training with them, she returned to her old village only to find it had already been purged and destroyed years ago, leaving only ashes and bones. Now she travels, sometimes on her own, sometimes with other hunters, swearing vengeance against the demons that killed her parents.
Having suffered childhood trauma as well as living a lonely nomadic lifestyle with her foster parents, Haeyun finds it difficult to be social with anyone and prefers to work alone.
